Speaking of hills... Not only is our neighborhood hilly, the hills start right at our driveway. Our driveway climbs up from our garage door to a cul-de-sac; from there, the only road out of our neighborhood climbs up to the main road. Distance from the garage to the main road is ~0.25 miles, with ~100 feet of elevation gain.
It all starts uphill |
100 feet in 1/4 mile is bad enough, but it really sucks when it's the very first 1/4 mile of the ride, when legs are completely cold and haven't even turned a single revolution of the pedals.
While riding, I thought of the Chuck Berry classic "No Particular Place to Go". I had a general idea of places I didn't want to go (basically, places I've ridden the past few days), but other than that, I just cruised semi-randomly.
I haven't biked in the nearby Saybrook neighborhood in a long time, so I thought it would be worth a try. I had forgotten how hilly this neighborhood is! I made it up the big climb up the main road, and was thankfully rewarded for my effort with a beautiful view of the sun setting over the Olympic Mountains.

Looks like tomorrow should be a beautiful day, too. I wonder where my bike will take me?
