And Now For Something Completely Different

My friend J.F.P. sent this to me yesterday; it's a photo of his contribution to the Obama '08 campaign:

I couldn't agree more.

At some point in my lifetime, I would love to get really excited about a presidential candidate; someone for whom I would actively support by volunteering my time, donating my money, advertise via signs on my vehicles and in my yard, etc.

I want to vote for someone who is not "the lesser of two evils"; I want to vote for someone who is not evil at all. Someone with the vision to look beyond the next election or fund raiser. Someone who speaks their mind clearly and unambiguously without regard to the latest poll results.

For a few brief moments, I thought Barack Obama might be this person. That is, until the recent FISA vote. Clearly, it's just politics as usual in Washington. Nothing has changed, and nothing is likely to change in the foreseeable future.

I'm still waiting.

Check out my anti-vote voting system idea for this very reason.
